Ahead By A Century

Happy TUNEBACK TUESDAY!! This past Saturday (August 20, 2016), The Tragically Hip performed the last show of their Man Machine Poem Tour as 11.7 Million Canadians tuned in to experience what could very well be their final performance. It was a powerful, emotional moment in Canadian history and one I will never forget. I was also lucky enough to witness their final show in Toronto which was equally as memorable.

In honour of Gord Downie and The Tragically Hip, today I’m tuning it back to one of my favourite Hip tunes, “Ahead By A Century”.

ORIGINAL RELEASE DATE: April 22, 1996

TRIVIA: It is the most successfully charted single in Canada in the band’s history.

The song is one of several Tragically Hip singles which were developed from improvised bridge jams during live performances of the band’s signature song “New Orleans Is Sinking”.

See you next Tuesday!!
