Happy TUNEBACK TUESDAY!! Since seeing Dolly Parton in concert on Friday, I’ve had several of her songs stuck in my head. So today I’m tuning it back to “Islands In The Stream” performed by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers (and written by the Bee Gees).
ORIGINAL RELEASE DATE: July 1983
TRIVIA: Named after the Ernest Hemingway novel, it was originally written for Marvin Gaye in an R&B style, only later to be changed for the Kenny Rogers album. It was released in August 1983 as the first single from Rogers’ album Eyes That See in the Dark.
BONUS VIDEO: Here are the Bee Gees performing the song back in 1997.
See you next Tuesday!
